caroline's party

it really makes me wonder why the substances adults get addicted to, like drugs, cigarettes, cafine and alcohol, have to be so damn bitter. and why do they have lifethreatening side effects if taken too much? is god really annoyed when we are having fun? well odd enough, that i can't seem to get hooked onto most of those substances. well, just a thought.

anyways, the party was fun enough. people started coming late. i went home early, around 11pm i'll say. it'll be hard to go home with the racket god's doing up there causing his pee to fall. flooded all over. so had i ride with cous back home. so pretty much missed the true fun of the party. damn. wa burning up though. was it the punch? tomato...

Coraline

just read coraline by neil geiman (given by a wonderful friend). basically, I LOVED IT! well yeah.

i loved the plot. how coraline was free to roam at first. then she's enslaved by curiosity, and after that, obligate to save her parents, then completely trapped in the other world when the 'other mother' got hold of the key. she is fettered with more obligations to rescue the three souls trapped in there too. but a silver lining appeared when she struck a deal with 'the other mother' and the stone gave her a tiny ray of hope. but it all came crashing down when 'the other mother' cheated. despite all these, her determination and the cat led to their escape. one final obstacle, the hand, still restricted her. but soon, she eliminated that and finally was liberated again. hence, the plot was superb.

the idea and content, likewise, was excellent. i often liked to think that kids have more than meets the eye and they can actually be strong and ingenious at times. that though they are always looked down upon, they can do what adults can. i always liked childhood elements. the key advantage of this type of books, which is fiction, was well handled. i just can't imagine a child going through all those. traumatic. yet i believed. unlike other children's storybooks like artemis fowl. i think because the book was purely childlike.

i find stephen king more heart-racing. though it did make my heart skip beats a few times. it was scary enough. or is it that the ambiance interfered at that time (my cousin watching tv). however, i would prefer gaiman's style of writing over king's. artsy. metamorphic. i liked it much. but honestly, i was unsatisfied. i don't know, maybe just didn't hit the right spot. nevertheless, few books leave me astonished and content. in conclusion it was a good book.

mag:net

went to magnet last friday to watch pinikpikan caroline reserved seats for us. catalina, dean, francis, aldrin, trina and i went along (walang hya yung mga nang indian). i have to say i really liked the band. it's ethnic sound mixed with the electrical guitar was a little bit odd but sounded beautiful. intricate arrangements. lots of effects. all performers stoned. haha. the place was fogged up because of the cigar smoke! can't help it. and all was good. it was a good show. everyone danced only at the last song. then after that they were like "MORE" and i was like, they performed umpteen songs, why didn't you dance along since then! DUH. i was actually listening to the song only. can't see the band perform beacause a bloody tall white boy and a fat ass lady was in front of me. i gave up all hopes and just listened. the white boy bothered me a lot. he looked so goody-two-shoes and even might have resembled harry potter when his older. but he was smoking, his fat ass gf was smoking like hell and he danced like a gnome. seriously it was horrible and painful to look at. then, i sent the guys home around 1am. trina was wasted. haha. took pictures only at the end of the whole thing. bummer.
